Rise above the mud.
Miner Baja racing team provides students with an experience that simulates real-world industry. Being a smaller team creates a special bond between our members. Our team's inclusive culture encourages students to have fun while learning about design and manufacturing.
Our team is always looking for talented individuals looking to build their design skills.
We design, fabricate, and race an off-road vehicle in competition with other universities in international events.
We recruit all majors, but our team attracts a lot of mechanical engineers.
Courses that directly apply to our team include: Machine Design, Mechanics of Materials, Intro to Manufacturing, Machine Dynamics, Practical Concepts for Technical Managers
We plan to begin our general meetings in the first portion of the semester with recruiting-centered topics and information for new members. New members can then sample various sub-teams to find out what they enjoy most. In the fall, we have a number of new member meetings where you can meet the team and spend time together, both inside and outside the Student Design Center.
Members develop skills in design, fabrication, leadership, communication, finance, and professionalism. Students have the opportunity to develop specialized technical skills, such as welding, developing parts-specifications, and modeling with computer software.
We provide a very realistic real-world experience for engineering students who are interested in design and manufacturing. Our team is favored by heavy-industry for producing students with practical experience. The knowledge gained, combined with a team culture that teaches students how to work in a professional, teamwork-driven environment results in well-rounded graduates. Additionally, the team promotes creating a balance between academics and design teamwork, so that our members can be truly successful.
We would love to hear from you! If you have any questions about our team, team expectations, or how to join, please contact us at baja@mst.edu.
