This is formula racing. Miner Edition.
The Missouri S&T Formula SAE team is comprised of students of all levels and majors. From engineers to business students, every member is involved in every aspect of designing, building, and presenting the formula car.
We are a student design team that designs, builds, tests, and races an open-wheeled, formula-style race car every year! We will teach students everything they need to know about the design and manufacture of a racing vehicle.
Learn to machine parts, weld, and design a real formula-style race car! Even if you have no prior experience, we will teach you everything you need to know!
We accept any and all majors from mechanical engineering to electrical engineering to business, and everything in between! Many different aspects of curriculum apply directly to the team such as mechanical, aerospace and electrical design, or manufacturing classes. The team is divided into sub-systems of the car.
Our members gain machining skills, such as using the mill or lathe, CAD skills learning to use Siemens NX 12.0, budgeting and marketing skills with the business group, and especially the cooperative skills that come from working closely together as a team through the year.
Our team is currently ranked 5th in the United States and 30th in the world. We attend 2-3 competitions each summer, along with team members getting to drive the car during testing days throughout the semester. Not only is this team fun and exciting, but we also are highly competitive.
